*** Productive morning at my job.
*** I took a camera with me today because I started to see the beauty around me in daily life. I wanted to stop rushing, look around and take a couple of pictures of flowers or trees.
*** I went outside to a square while KK had her music class and took several pictures. It was a lovely day.
***After her class we went to a cafeteria where she had her snack and we laughed so much about jokes we made up together.
*** Quiet time in a bookstore. I discovered the new bookstore, a small one, but they have a great selection.  I bought one book I need to read and spent the rest of my time in the interior design section.
*** On the way back home, it was a beautiful view of downtown's highrise buildings at night. I was driving, I could not take pictures )))

"When we feel anger, we are often very angry that we feel anger. Damn anger!! It tells us we can't get away with our old life any longer. It tells us that old life is dying. It tells us we are being reborn, and birthing hurts. The hurt makers us angry.
Anger is a firestorm that signals the death of our old life. Anger is the fuel that propels us into our new one. Anger is a tool, not a master. Anger is meant to be tapped into and drawn upon. Used properly, anger is use-full". -- Julia Cameron

"The Little Engine That Could  is a story of optimism.
It's about how telling yourself "I think I can, I think I can...." can lead to success. It also suggests that:

- Optimism is how you overcome unforseen obstables
- Optimism is an essential part of helping others in need
- Optimism isn't necessary when life is easy - only when it's hard
- Optimism comes in handy when no one around you will help you out
- Optimism is a great antidote to sadness
- Optimism is available even to those who consider themselves unimportant
- There are pleanty of pessimistic people out there
- Optimism is empowering - it provides the energy needed to move mountains
- Everyone loves optimists

Go to your local bookstore and pick up a copy of The Little Engine That Could. Put it in some conspisious place in your home, where you can easily see it, and be sure to read it every day - maybe before you befine your day or the last things at night. It's a nice positive message to start your day with or sleep on". - Happiness for Dummies by W. Doyle Gentry, Ph.D

"You can change your pessimistic attitude by changing your behavior first. Normally, people think of attitude as something that leads behavior - like a horse pulling a wagon. But I want you to turn that around and think of a change in attitude as something that follows behavior - in effect, putting the cart in front of the horse!

This "cart-before-the-horse" approach I'm talking about is the essence of what has come to be called behavioral medicine, a new approach to health and well-being that I was privileged to help pioneer, where you literally behave your way into, in this case, happiness".  - Happiness for Dummies by W. Doyle Gentry, Ph.D.

“The reward of attention is always healing. It may begin as the healing of a particular pain – the lost lover, the sickly child, the shattered dream. But what is healed, finally, is the pain that underlies all pain: the pain that we are all, as Rilke phrases it, unutterably alone”. More than anything else, attention is an act of connection. I learned this the way I have learned most things –quite by accident”. ---Julia Cameron

Exercise and Optimism
"Some years ago, my colleagues and I conducted a small study of cardic patients at a local hospital, administrating a test of optimism and also seeing how compliant they were with the exercise rehab program to which theyhad been referrd by thier cariologists. Not surprisingly, there was a significant link between two. Those patients who were the most optimistic exercised the most, and conversely those who exersiced the most were the most were the most optimistic.
This sugests that, even if you don't start out all that optimistic, you will be if you stick to the exercise program". - Happiness for Dummies by W. Doyle Gentry, PhD

**The Secret of Self-Esteem **

Optimism and self-confidence result from our body chemistry, not our mental attitude.

Sometimes we are ready to take on the world. Other times the bag lady sits at our feet clucking her disapproval of our lives.

Enduring and consistent confidence is a thousand times better than those few moments stolen on the back of a sugar high.
I have been fascinated with the beta-endorphin story for years. As you may recall from Potatoes Not Prozac, beta-endorphin is the brain chemical that enables us to tolerate pain. So when I first learned that sugar evokes beta-endorphin, it made perfect sense to me. Sugar as a pain-killer seemed to resonate with what my body already knew.

But I hadn’t thought of sugar as an emotional pain-killer. Reading that first scientific article about sugar reducing “isolation distress” knocked my socks off. When baby mice were given sugar, they didn’t cry as much when they were taken away from their mothers. This wasn’t about physical pain, this was a whole different story. I wanted to piece it together....
